National Customs

Longgong Scenic Area is a multi-ethnic settlement area.


It is home to the Han, Miao, Buyi, Bai, Tujia, and Gelao ethnic groups, featuring a rich variety of ethnic customs and living habits.


The various ethnic groups are both independent and mutually influential in terms of culture and customs, with each group influencing and being influenced by the others.


Among the ethnic minorities, the Buyi people are the main group. The ancestors of the Buyi people, the Baiyue ethnic group, were the first to cultivate rice, making significant contributions to the world's rice cultivation civilization and earning the title of "Rice People".


The Buyi ethnic group's clothing is colorful and diverse. Their folk crafts mainly include batik, embroidery, brocade weaving, and bamboo weaving.


The traditional festivals include February 2nd, April 8th, and June 6th. The Buyi opera and the eight-instrument ensemble singing are well-known.


Under the profound influence of traditional culture,


they grow up in songs, choose their partners through songs, get married in songs, and express love, friendship, and share their feelings through songs.


Every time a traditional festival arrives,


unmarried young people of the Buyi ethnic group meet through playing the bamboo flute and singing songs, falling in love, getting engaged for life, and expressing their love, friendship, and sharing their thoughts through songs.
